La Casa Vella

History

El Bedorc is a very old settlement: its place name is of pre-Roman origin and Neolithic remains have been found here. The tower of El Bedorc, the old castle of la Ventosa, declared a cultural asset of national interest, is documented as early as the 10th century, and in 1188 the site was donated to the monastery of Sant Cugat.

For centuries, the hamlet grew around its farmhouses (Ca l'Enric, Can Parellada, Ca l'Olivé and Can Ferrer del Coll) and farming. At the end of the 19th century phylloxera transformed the crops, and the paper industry, present since 1790, and the textile industry, active until 1980, shaped village life.

The hamlet was developed from 1910 onwards, and in 1966 the church of Sant Sebastià, with its characteristic  hyperbolic roof, was inaugurated. The village festival is held on the last weekend of August.
