Cava cellars in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, 15 minutes from El Bedorc
Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the capital of cava, is 15 minutes from La Casa Vella. Codorníu, Freixenet and other cellars can be visited if you book ahead, and the cava fair is in October.
Sant Sadurní d'Anoia calls itself the capital of cava, and it is 15 minutes by car from the house. Many cellars open for visits, but nearly all of them ask you to book.
Where to start
The Cava Centre, at the tourist office, runs combined visits with cellars in town: Blancher, Canals i Munné, Freixenet, Jaume Giró, Joan Segura P., Montesquius and Vilarnau. It doesn't publish fixed opening hours, so call them (+34 938 913 188) or write to [email protected].
Two large cellars
- Codorníu. The 1900 Modernist building is by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, and the estate was declared a historic-artistic monument in 1976. In 2026 it launched a new guided tour, "La memoria de la burbuja", at €38.
- Freixenet. The visit lasts about 90 minutes and ends with a tasting. Booking is required (+34 93 891 70 96 or [email protected]).
The cava fair
Sant Sadurní's cava fair, known until now as Cavatast, is held on the first weekend of October: 3 to 5 October in 2025 and 2 to 4 October in 2026, in Parc de Lluís Companys. If the pattern holds, the 2027 fair will again be in early October.
A tip
If the visit ends with a tasting, it's a 15-minute drive back. At the house, the evenings are quiet.
